Sienna’s long, white blond hair whipped around her face. It had grown long in the passing months now that Cad hadn’t been here to cut it for her. Her green-eyed gaze drifted to the starry night sky. Sienna silently wondered what Cad’s place was there. Perhaps flying griffins until her hearts content. Her sudden thoughts were interrupted by heavy, approaching footsteps. She swung around only to meet Athan’s gaze.
It was hard for her to trust him. He’d betrayed her, put her in danger and basically killed Cad just to prove a stupid point to his parents. An apology wasn’t enough for her, but he was the only one who might be able to help her save the two worlds. That’s the choice she had to decide to make for the greater good. It’s all about the greater good it’s all about saving Raetha and Earth. Sienna thought nervously tugging on the ends of her hair. She pulled her leather jacket tighter around herself watching her breath appear in the frigid air.
“Hey.” She narrowed her eyes at the sound of his voice.
“Hello.” She replied curtly.
“The soldiers are working on a plan to cut of some huge shipments that they’ll need. ” Athan said his amber eyes glinting.
“That’s great.” Sienna sagged against the sole wall on the roof of the their building, tired of her job and missing Cad.
“Have you thought anymore about what I said?”
“What did you say?” The tone in her voice sounded meaner than she had intended it to.
“About being a Guardian and how you should put it to good use.” Athan replied in the same tone, his eyebrows raised. The shadow of the moon turned his dusky brown hair silver.
“I never asked to be a Guardian you know. That’s what got Cad killed, along with your great help. I didn’t ask for this, it’s not like I exactly had a choice.” Sienna hisses.
“When you and Cad followed me through the thread you had a choice. You had a choice Sienna! Don’t say you didn’t. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and start feeling sorry for the people who are dying.” Athan retorted.
“I do feel sorry for the people who are dying. Remember you’re the one who got Cad killed just to prove a point. You shouldn’t be the one saying anything about feeling sorry for those who are dying.” Sienna yelled into the wind staring squarely in his eyes.
“JUST STOP!” Athan hollered back turning to leave and he bumped into Sienna. It hadn’t seemed like such a shove but then she went flying over the ledge. Wind whistled past her, she couldn’t swallow the high pitched scream that she’d let out the second she went over the edge. Athan watched her fall his eyes wide with fear, his chest tight with panic and he realized then there was only one thing he could do. So he jumped. His body grew deformed in mid fall tremors rocking his entire body in less than a minute he was a griffin. The cross between the most powerful animals on the planet. A lion and a eagle. His slim body was replaced with the thickly muscled one of a lions, the russet color of his feathers shone silver in the light. The only way he was recognizable was the determination in his amber eyes.
Athan’s claws tore at Sienna brown jacket he struggled to secure his hold, that was the hard part. His talons were sure to leave marks as he slowly lifted her onto the roof . Her small frame swayed in the breeze. Athan sat her down slowly and in mere seconds before Sienna had time to wipe away the tears that marred her face he changed back. She clasped her shaking hands together giving him a long, thoughtful look.
“I couldn't let you fall.” In five words Sienna forgive Athan. For lying to her, tricking her, and letting Cad die. Falling to her death wasn’t exactly the heroic end she’d planned. Maybe Athan had made a mistake that led to a much bigger accident. But Sienna had made mistakes too and she knew how she was going to fix them. She knew she had to help restore Raetha and Earth. Complaining and arguing wasn’t going to get her anywhere. But first she had to do something else.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn't have blamed Cad’s death on you.”
This is for Frayeddawn. One of the greatest friends I have. This is a birthday gift, A Christmas gift, and a all around gift for being the an amazing internet friend. She does so much for me from editing every chapter of my budding novel to consoling me when I've had a bad day. She made a Sightless fanfiction for me and so I decided she needed an Earthen fanfic. There are some spaces in this, and it probably needs to be revised a little bit more but I couldn't hold out on posting it any longer. Thanks again for being the most amazing friend.

Aww, Moss! <3 This is so sweet of you to do for me! I love how you depict Sienna and Athan, and how you believe Sienna is affected by Cad's death. Thank you so much for this! :D You definitely made my day!
